La Bête humaine Tattoo shop

It isn’t easy to square up to Zola, Renoir and Gabin, but renowned tattoo artist Stéphane Chaudesaigues decided to step up to the mark in 2006.
The novels of these great men invoke
the idea of a naturalistic masterpiece,
and Stéphane Chaudesaigues has brought this way of thinking

to his own artwork.

Critics have also praised the epic dimensions of the work. Just one look at the imposing pieces created by our tattoo artists, inspires a profound and magical sense of the extraordinary.

The mechanical power, so brilliantly symbolized by Zola’s ‘La Lison’, the steam train owned by the character Jacques Lantier in Zola’s novel, finds its place
at La Bête humaine in the tattoo machines, ready to make your wildest
dreams come true.

A tattoo shop in the belly of Paris.

La Bête Humaine is a tattoo shop in Paris, hidden away in a little street in the Marais, one of the quaintest and most beautiful parts of the city.
If you turn left, however, you will come face to
face with the world-famous Centre Pompidou art gallery,
standing proud in the very center of Paris.
In this perfectly-located tattoo shop in “the belly of Paris”, as famously coined
by Zola, we find Stéphane Chaudesaigues, the well-known, world-renowned, multi-facetted tattoo artist who fights tooth and nail for his work and for professional tattoo artists.

The Tatouage and Partage association

Stéphane Chaudesaigues is not just the man voted Tattoo Artist of the Year
by the prestigious American National Tattoo Association. He is also the
chairman of an association dedicated to the world of tattoos –

Tatouage & Partage
. His passion, his work, his art, his life.

Sharing knowledge

Sharing knowledge is the association’s first objective, and thanks to the world-class French and international tattoo artists filling up the guest list, the seminars organized by the association regularly attract an audience of curious professionals..

Defending the profession

The second objective is to defend professional tattoo artists against the numerous threats surrounding them. In 2013 the association proved its
mettle in the fight against the ban on color tattoo ink, and even succeeded in convincing French senators and experts to
intervene at the French Ministry of health.

Fighting to make tattooing an official professional status

The final objective of Tatouage & Partage is to teach an up and coming generation of tattoo artists in a sector whose political and social standing is somewhat frowned upon, if not a taboo.
The association strives to give the tattoo artists of tomorrow a true,
professional education,
and one of Stéphane Chaudesaigues’ key goals is to make the government recognize tattooing as an official professional status.

The Chaudes-Aigues Tattoo Festival

If you’ve heard of the name Chaudesaigues, it’s probably thanks to the out-of-the-ordinary tattoo convention organized every July by Stéphane Chaudesaigues – the Cantal In’k the Skin tattoo convention, also known as the
Festival International du Tatouage de Chaudes-Aigues

A summertime festival in the name of tattoos

The main principle is to celebrate tattoos in all their forms in the little French village of  Chaudes-Aigues, home to the famous Source du Par thermal springs. Families and friends come together under the summer sun and in a breathtaking setting. The Festival du Tatouage de Chaudes-Aigues gives you the chance to meet French and international tattoo artists while enjoying live music, local produce and a variety of shows and performances.
This is without a doubt the tattooing event not to be missed!

A huge thank you to Jeff Gogue for his interpretation and vision of the next Festival du Tatouage de Chaudes-Aigues.
This year we have kept the same theme of the Source du Par thermal springs, the symbol of Chaudes-Aigues. This little village welcomes our
community every year to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying tattoos.
The dialogue between fellow artists and colleagues shows
that our little world of tattoos is jam-packed with different talents and ideas,
with rich variety of personal contributions. - Chaudesaigues Award 2012 - Stephane Chaudesaigues

The Chaudesaigues Award

When Stéphane Chaudesaigues decided to popularize his beloved art, he also had professional tattoo artists in mind. His association Tatouage & Partage helps to spread the word, and the Chaudesaigues Award
, rewards the best tattoo artists on the circuit every year.

International tattoo artists James Kern and Matteo Pasqualin
the first to be honored

The focal point of this trophy is to honor the career and artistic choices of a tattoo artist,  not just a single piece of work. James Kern and Matteo Pasqualin were the first two talented  winners, and we’re waiting for the third ! If you are interested, all you need to do is sign up and present the skills honed over your career to a jury.
